If there’s a dusty instrument in your grandmother’s basement, and if perchance word about it gets out, Zach Condon and crew will soon be knocking on your door, asking to borrow it in a never-ending search to expand Beirut’s carnival troubadour sound.
You might have missed it with all the New Year hubbub, but song and info for Beirut’s forthcoming album, Gallipoli (out very soon on February 1st, 2019), have been eeking out at an increasing pace. The latest for the vocally roaming track “Landslide” includes a nifty vid directed by Eoin Glaister, reminiscent of a Don Quixote caper set in the Sahara.
Previously released were the brief and instrumental lazy Caribbean “Corfu”…
…and the more familiar “Gallipoli”, the title track that has all the Beirut band staples, Sepia horn solos included.
Gallipoli releases February 1st via 4ad Records.
